First and foremost, we have not been purchased or merged with another company.

After nearly 12 years Blarg has changed its name and is now Avvanta Communications Corporation. Avvanta is the same company, run by the same people with the same philosphy of bringing the best and most reliable internet solutions to our customers, we're just going to do that with a new name.

Since many people will have questions about this change, we've compiled a list of questions and answers about it. If you have any questions that aren't covered here give us a call at 425.818.6500 (888.662.5274 toll free) or send an email to Avvanta Support and we'll be happy, as always, to answer them.


Q: Why are you changing the name?
A: The Internet is constantly changing and evolving. Blarg as a company has also changed and evolved to keep pace with the explosive growth of the Internet. This name change is another stage in our growth and evolution as a company. The new name better reflects what we are as a company now that the Internet has become a tool for everyone and not just the handful of "computer elite" it was when we first started in 1994.

Q: Was Blarg sold or are you going to sell?
A: No to both questions. We are still owned and operated by the same people as we were in 1994. We're still run out of Bellevue, WA and have no intentions of selling. We still have the same passion for the Internet that we did back then, and continue to strive to deliver the best service possible.

Q: When will the name change happen?
A: We've already legally changed the name of the company to Avvanta. Most server names have also been changed and we expect to have everything converted over to the new name over the next few weeks.

Q: When the server names change will there be any service outages?
A: No. Changing the names on the servers will not cause any disruptions in service.

Q: Will I have to give up my blarg.net email address?
A: No. You will be able to keep your blarg.net email address as long as you like. We will continue to support blarg.net and have no plans of discontinuing it. After all, some people have been using the blarg.net domain for email since 1995, and we would not ask them to change this.

Q: What will my new email address be?
A: You will now be able to use avvanta.com for email in addition to blarg.net. They are interchangeable.

Q: Will I need to reconfigure my computer or email software?
A: No. You will still be able to use all of the same server names you have been using. The new avvanta.com server names will be the ones listed on our web pages and support documentation, but the blarg.net server names will continue to function. As we add new services, they will be done using the avvanta.com domain name only. Web services using home.blarg.net will be automatically redirected to home.avvanta.com so you will not have to update any links.
